  • Scratch Patch Mineral World - visit the world's largest gemstone tumbling factory
  • Simonstown - this Naval town is steeped in history and is home to a maritime museum and many listed houses showing traditional architecture. The main road and Waterfront offer great dining spots, art galleries and boutiques.
  • Muizenberg - One of the longest beaches in the world, with one of the best surf-breaks for both beginner and veteran surfers and body-boarders.
  • Imhoff Farm - Horse, camel and tractor rides are offered along with the Snake Park and farmyard. Designed as a homestead, you can buy locally made art, crafts and wholesome foods.
  • Kommetjie - is home to popular Longbeach that has a fantastic surf-break. Drive to the lighthouse at nearby Slangkop to see incredible scenery and sea-scapes

  • Cape Point (Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve), the meeting place of the Indian & Atlantic Oceans offers many great picnic spots as well as a refined restaurant and take-away café. A funicular means you can enjoy the scenic high-vantage point without the sweat of a long, steep walk
  • Cape Point Ostrich Farm - visit an ostrich farm and find out about how they are raised, how they live and what they are used for
  • The Constantia Winelands - Five top wine producers farm this unique terroir - sample their internationally renowned wines
  • Silvermine Nature Reserve - Enjoy spectacular views whilst mountain biking or hiking through the Reserve. Swim and relax at the Silvermine dam which is especially beautiful at sunset.
  • Hout Bay - one of the finest and most active fishing harbours in South Africa offering great restaurants and serving the best of traditional "fish 'n chips".
  • Chapman's Peak - A national heritage sight and not-to-be missed scenic drive between Noordhoek and Hout Bay. 20 minutes to:
  • Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens - set on the lower slopes of Table Mountain, it is one of the world's greatest botanical gardens with over 5000 species of Cape indigenous vegetation (fynbos). It also hosts Summer Concerts every Sunday evening throughout the summer season.
  • Rhodes memorial - a tribute to John Cecil Rhodes and worth visiting for the incredible view over the city.
  • The Old Biscuit Mill Market, Woodstock - held every Saturday morning from 9am to 2pm, sellers of organic produce and many fine foods market their wares in an undercover market surrounded by trendy, vibey shops and live music.
  • Porters Estate Produce Market, Tokai- weather permitting, this family-friendly, open-air market is held every Saturday morning. Its wares include organic produce, fine foods and some good quality "flea-market" paraphernalia.
30 minutes to:
  • V&A Waterfront- Designer shops, boutiques, an open-air theatre, fine-dining restaurants and many tourist activities are on offer, appealing to all ages.
  • Robben Island - Nelson Mandela's prison for more than 20 years, this international site can be visited by ferries that leave from the V&A Waterfront, pre-booking is advised
  • Table Mountain - the city's most famous natural landmark. Reach the summit by cable car or walk one of the many hiking trails.
